Sad week

We've had quite a sad week with the passing of a friend - Jenni Pemberton and her little baby boy, Broden. She had an amniotic embolism. I didn't know too much about it, but she was 7mths pregnant and somehow, amniotic fluid leaked out through a tear or rupture, and got into her bloodstream, and caused her to go into a cardiac arrest (it is poisionous to a mother). Her husband tried CPR while waiting for paramedics, but they said she was out probably 40 mins before they got here heart going again. They delivered her baby c-section, and put them both on life support, and liflighted them to a Provo hospital. They were both in a coma and had severe brain damage. Jenni died last tuesday morning and the baby passed away in the afternoon. The doctors say that this is a very rare complication of pregnancy, and that most women don't survive. Don't be scared if you are pregnant - it is very rare!
Everyone was devastated and shocked by such an aweful thing to happen to such a wonderful family. They were loved and liked by everyone. Her husband Nate, is good friends with KC - they play church sports together, and he is a framer like KC is, so they talk work alot too. They have 3 older kids - 8yrs, 6yrs, and 2 1/2yrs. They have alot of family too that has helped them through this last week.
We went to the viewing last night, and then the funeral is today.
One other thing that was upsetting is that they were planning on going to the temple this saturday 12th April, to be sealed as an eternal family! Fortunately, after his bishop spoke to the temple president, they have been given permission to still go ahead with the sealing this weekend. Jenni's mom went through the temple for her last friday, so she could be dressed in her temple clothes to be buried.
We have been invited to go to the temple with them on saturday, and I am looking forward to it , but it will be a tough day too.
Being an independant framer, they were without insurance, so I know some other friends set up a fund in her name at Zions bank. Someone kindly and anonimously paid for the funeral expenses. What great friends they have.
We pray for them and know many do at this time.

I am so sorry! That is one of the saddest things I have heard. Those poor babies losing their mom. Kindof shocks you and makes you evaluate your life....priorities....and how much your family means to you. Thank goodness for the gospel that gives us hope for the afterlife and that we will see loved ones again.

That is so tragic. I am so sorry. I agree with Emily - the gospel does give us hope. Although that doesn't always help the little ones right now. We will keep the family in our prayers.

Thanks for posting about this, I probably wouldn't have know about it for awhile. Such a sad thing, and yet we are so blessed to know of Heavenly Fathers plan.
P.S. your family is too cute!!
